Local DJs Help Raise Over $35,000 for Shriners Hospitals for Children

The Sacramento Chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association recently held its annual "Cool California Nights" charity dinner/dance gala and golf tournament at Granite Bay Golf Club benefitting Shriners Hospitals for Children - Northern California, raising over $35,000.  The hospital treats children up to age 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate regardless of their families' ability to pay.  Pictured, right to left, with the check are Granite Bay Golf Professional Brad Cady, his wife Marni, and their children Spencer and Mitchell.  Spencer, age 7, was born with bilateral club foot and has undergone numerous surgeries.  Mitchell, age 9, was born with mild cerebral palsy, and has undergone foot and leg surgery and aggressive physical therapy.  Both have received excellent treatment from the hospital! :)

Honoring the Longest Married Dancing Couple

At weddings, we feature the "Generations Dance" where married couples are invited to dance to a romantic song in honor of marriage.  They continue dancing as another romantic song is played, but this time the MC circulates among them announcing the number of years that each couple has been married.  Once the longest married couple is located, the music is stopped and that couple shares their advice for a long and successful marriage.  The newlyweds then present them with beautiful ribbon buttons to proudly wear as the music is restarted and they dance the night away!  This connects the generations and makes great memories!

Baseball Surprises for Groom!

Vicki had some great surprises for Dustin - a baseball shaped groom's cake and a garter adorned with his favorite team's logo! We brought out a baseball glove to finish off the look for the garter toss and played some organ motivator music during his wind up! (Photos by Cordell Firestone at The Beda Place)

Flutter Fetti Is Awesome!

We love using Flutter Fetti because it is so colorful and adds to the festive atmosphere. When we have approached some venues about using confetti they cringe at first, but then when we show them Flutter Fetti and how easy it is to clean up, they allow it. We've actually had some venues say, "We only allow Flutter Fetti." (Photo by Cordell Firestone)

AfWPI Awards 2nd Place "Mixer Team of the Year!"

Yeah Team! Congratulations to our team which won Sacramento Association for Wedding Professionals International's 2nd Place "Mixer Team of the Year" for the Boo Bash, which was a real thriller with ghoulish grits concocted by Beth Sogaard Catering, death by chocolate created by Capital Confections, smokin’ libations brewed by A Perfect Pour, goth brides clothed by Enchanted Bridal Shoppe and prepped by Dexe Thao & Beela Shaikh, chanted incantations led by JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment, and an eerie and ghostly atmosphere created by Creative Memories Entertainment at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria! JD Presents Rebecca Johnson with AfWPI's Volunteer-of-the-Year Award!

Like, okay. So, I was totally stoked when I got the 4-1-1 about the gnarly opportunity to present AfWPI’s 2014 volunteer-of-the-year award at "Back To The 80s Prom Night" recognition gala.

The volunteer of the year is, like, the person
who, ya know, is totally awesome as far as standing out above the rest in donating the most time to programs and, like, ya know, events during the previous year.

This volunteer is major righteous! And in donating time, just like, really made things primo radical!

Always willing to jump in and, like, lend a hand, this person: agreed to co-chair the Conference Committee just weeks before it was held, helped with last year’s Gala, assisted with several Facebook posts and events, and helped set up the Christmas Party.

Three times when helping out, this person wasn't even acknowledged publicly, which is bogus and totally lame. Still, that didn't stop her continued support. She’s completely dedicated to AfWPI.

And this year’s winner, like, the most awesome volunteer, is: Rebecca Johnson of MySocial Media Productions! Congratulations Rebecca! (photos by Farrell Photography at Tsakopoulos Library Galleria).
