Eagle Scout Project - K-9 Agility Equipment

Join us at RUFF Dog Park in Johnson-Sprinview Park, Rocklin Saturday 9-7 from 10am-1pm as we honor Boy Scout Cordell Firestone and some of his crew on the completion of his project. The project involved fundraising, designing, building, and installing K-9 agility equipment for both the small and the large dog areas. It includes window jumps, tunnels, dog-walks, tire courses, and an adjustable hurdle. Many volunteer hours of community service went into this project. Bring your dog and have some fun!

Fun Wedding Game - Who Are You?

Fun wedding where the couple had us conduct a game to see how well the bride knows the groom. We played "Who Are You" by The Who as the men sat in chairs while the blindfolded bride felt their hair and facial features, trying to pick which man was the groom. She narrowed it down to two men, ultimately selecting her husband. But just before the reveal, the two of them switched places leading to some big laughs for all. ;)

Mardi Gras at the French Quarter

We recently had the pleasure of providing the musical entertainment for Cobblestone Elementary School's PTC Mardi Gras French Quarter Dance.  The fundraiser raised money to purchase new computers for the school.  It was awesome!  The crowd got their laugh on with standup comedy from Nick Aragon.  Then they were amazed with sleight of hand by Caddwynn the Magician.  Next things really got hot with fire-dancer Justin from River City Fire as he spun fire balls on the dance floor.  Adding to the ambience was face-painting by Kelly, tarot card reading from Hexipa, and balloon art by Tiffany's Balloon Twisting.  After crowning a mardi gras king, the crowd really got their groove on as we danced the night away!

Good Isn't Good Enough - You Deserve GREAT!

The Sacramento Chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) just held a bride's panel where recently married brides/couples shared their experiences with musical entertainment for their weddings. One couple told about a "bargain DJ" that they thought did a "good job." We don't think "good" is good enough. Here's why:

The DJ didn't return their phone calls promptly, but he eventually got in touch with them. He didn't provide them with planning forms in advance of meeting to detail out their wedding. Instead, he just brought a blank pad on which he took notes. He showed up late on their wedding day -- as the officiant was asking for a pre-ceremony sound-check, the groom literally had a cell phone in each hand calling the DJ's numbers trying to track him down. The DJ finally arrived and set up, so they said "things worked out."

The couple was pleased the DJ was able to do an "on-the-fly edit" of a song for their grand entrance which was really important to the bride, who had been picturing their entrance for weeks and was worried whether the song could be edited -- of course, her worries could have been alleviated if he had stayed in touch with them. The DJ cued the song so the right lyrics played when the couple entered, but he mispronounced their names, which really bothered the groom because it made it seem to their guests like the DJ didn't even know them -- "but he only did it two or three times that night."

Still, according to this couple, "he did a good job."

At JD Productions, Quality DJ Entertainment, good isn't good enough. We think you deserve a GREAT musical entertainment experience! We stay in touch with our clients and promptly communicate with them. We provide online planning forms so they can fill them out before our planning meeting. We go over important items in advance like custom edits and name pronunciations. And we arrive on time.

When your special day is over - you will have the photos and the memories. It's the photographer's job to capture your special memories, but it's our job to help create those memories. We would welcome the opportunity to create GREAT memories for you!

Super Bowl Idea for Your Super Guy!

For weddings, here's a fun idea to put a new spin on an old tradition. When the groom removes the garter, he can wrap it around a plush or Nerf football. After calling together a quick huddle with the single guys, he can sprint across the dance floor and then turn to hurl a pass to one of the lucky guys! We can excite the crowd by playing the "Monday Night Football" theme and announcing the play-by-play action as it unfolds. It can be quite surprising, as the opportunity to make an interception always exists!

"Call Me Maybe" - Action Flipbooks

Here's a video of JD taking Carly Rae Jepsen up on her "Call Me Maybe" song offer at an AfWPI event at Granite Bay Golf Club, where ActionFlipbooks turned a 6-second video like this into a keepsake party favor!  Their flipbooks are tons of fun, they have a wide selection of props, and they use a green-screen effect to add various backgrounds!
