Questions to Ask a DJ/MC Before Hiring

Here are some helpful quests to ask a DJ/MC before hiring:
1) What is included in your services?
2) Do you have backup equipment on site at your events in case there is a mechanical equipment failure?
3) Do you carry liability insurance?
4) What professional organizations do you belong to? e.g., the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA), the Association for Wedding Professionals International (AFWPI), local bridal association
5) Will you meet with me before the event to detail out (plan) the musical entertainment and festivities?

AfWPI Awards 2nd Place "Mixer Team of the Year!"

Yeah Team! Congratulations to our team which won Sacramento Association for Wedding Professionals International's 2nd Place "Mixer Team of the Year" for the Boo Bash, which was a real thriller with ghoulish grits concocted by Beth Sogaard Catering, death by chocolate created by Capital Confections, smokin’ libations brewed by A Perfect Pour, goth brides clothed by Enchanted Bridal Shoppe and prepped by Dexe Thao & Beela Shaikh, chanted incantations led by JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment, and an eerie and ghostly atmosphere created by Creative Memories Entertainment at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria! JD Presents Rebecca Johnson with AfWPI's Volunteer-of-the-Year Award!

Like, okay. So, I was totally stoked when I got the 4-1-1 about the gnarly opportunity to present AfWPI’s 2014 volunteer-of-the-year award at "Back To The 80s Prom Night" recognition gala.

The volunteer of the year is, like, the person who, ya know, is totally awesome as far as standing out above the rest in donating the most time to programs and, like, ya know, events during the previous year.

This volunteer is major righteous! And in donating time, just like, really made things primo radical!

Always willing to jump in and, like, lend a hand, this person: agreed to co-chair the Conference Committee just weeks before it was held, helped with last year’s Gala, assisted with several Facebook posts and events, and helped set up the Christmas Party.

Three times when helping out, this person wasn't even acknowledged publicly, which is bogus and totally lame. Still, that didn't stop her continued support. She’s completely dedicated to AfWPI.

"Call Me Maybe" - Action Flipbooks

Here's a video of JD taking Carly Rae Jepsen up on her "Call Me Maybe" song offer at an AfWPI event at Granite Bay Golf Club, where ActionFlipbooks turned a 6-second video like this into a keepsake party favor!  Their flipbooks are tons of fun, they have a wide selection of props, and they use a green-screen effect to add various backgrounds!

JD Productions Recognized Among Top Mixer Teams!

On February 6, 2012, at the Association for Wedding Professionals International (AfWPI) Sacramento Chapter's annual recognition gala held at the Aerospace Museum of California, JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment was among the wedding and special event industry professionals to be awarded for the Top Three Mixer Teams of The Year! The mixer was a "Nautical Cruise" aboard the Empress Hornblower Old Sacramento of Hornblower Cruises & Events last May. Way to go team!

"JD the DJ" of JD Productions Quality Disc Jockey Entertainment will be the DJ/MC for the Association for Wedding Professionals, International (AfWPI) Sacramento Chapter mixer aboard the Empress Hornblower Old Sacramento of Hornblower Cruises & Events for a Nautical Cruise on Tuesday May 3, 2011, from 6:00-8:15 pm. Attendees will enjoy an evening cruise on the river while networking with other wedding professionals in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Featured businesses that evening will include Bridal Expo, Hearts on the Go, and the Perfect Wedding Guide, Northern California.

JD the DJ to DJ/Emcee AfWPI's Holiday Party

JD Firestone (JD the DJ) has been selected to provide the musical entertainment and emcee the Association for Wedding Professionals, International (AfWPI) Holiday Party on Sunday December 5, 2010. The event, dubbed a "Ho...Ho... Hoe Down for the Holidays," will be a fun-filled, downhome country celebration for vendors in the special event and entertainment industry, their friends, and families. It will be held in the Sky Room at the Country Club Event Center, Sacramento and will feature dinner, dancing, laser tag, bowling, and even a visit from Santa!

JD Firestone (JD the DJ) Receives AfWPI Team Spirit Award!

On February 2, 2010, Kami Storz (Sound Image Entertainment) presented JD Firestone (JD the DJ) of JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment with the Association for Wedding Professionals International (AfWPI) Team Spirit Award for 2009. The award recognizes additional efforts in promoting the association and encouraging member unity, which is not just for the recipient's own benefit, but for their fellow wedding and event professionals, and ultimately the Brides and Grooms for whom they proudly work. Kami described JD as: someone you can count on; when he commits, no doubt he will follow through; he has promoted AfWPI throughout the whole year with excitement, generosity, and unfailing loyalty; and above all, he is dedicated to the wedding and musical entertainment industry. On February 2, 2010, JD Firestone (JD the DJ) of JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment proudly presented the Association for Wedding Professionals International (AfWPI) President's Award to the member whom President and Vice President, Richard and Julia Markel, feel has set the best example of leadership throughout the past year. The award went not to one, but to many -- the AfWPI Advisory Board as a whole: Darci Swedelson (A Dazzling Day By Darcie/Slip of Elegance), Jeff Sharpe (Sharpe Photographers), Mike Anderson (Creative Memories Entertainment), Doug Lavine (Music on the Move DJs & MCs), Chris Kight (Christopher Kight Photographers), and Rick Francis (Action Plan Consulting). Congratulations to the recipients!

On February 2, 2010, the Association for Wedding Professionals International (AfWPI) will be holding its 10th Annual Recognition Gala at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, where professionals will gather for a festive black-tie affair to pay tribute to those in the wedding industry. JD Firestone (JD the DJ) of JD Productions Quality DJ Entertainment will be presenting the AfWPI President's Award to the member who has set the best example of leadership in AfWPI throughout 2009. JD, who himself is nominated for AfWPI Professional of the Year for 2009, is looking forward to being a presenter: "It's an honor and a privilege to be among the entertainers who will recognize peers in my industry. I'm very excited to have that opportunity!"
